The DT filled targets are much more complicated that the spherically symmetric concepts depicted previously. A few years ago, these schematics could not be shown publicly because of military classification restrictions. The key point of the figure below is that in most cases, the lasers or ion beams are used to generate a high flux of x-rays which, in turn, symmetrically implode the targets.
