Net Energy of Environmental Impact Analysis
The amount of electrical energy produced over the lifetime of coal, LWR fission, DT-fusion, and wind power plants is compared to the total amount of energy required to procure the fuel, build, operate, and decommission the power plants. The energy payback ratio (i.e., the total amount of useful energy derived from a power plant divided by the total amount of energy invested in the power plant) can be as high as 27 for DT-fusion plants, vs. a low of 11 for coal plants.
